Artwork – Jamaican Jazz Orchestra ‘Black Rain’

“Black Rain,” the third single from the EP, is now available. This track draws inspiration from the chord progressions of a Michael Kiwanuka song, giving rise to a melodic, reggae-infused bassline. The melody is carried by the organ, with vibrant guitar and horn responses woven throughout. The song features two solos: first, the guitar takes the spotlight, with influences from Django Reinhardt and Ernest Ranglin subtly shining through. Then, the organ delivers a smooth, funky, and jazzy solo before the track returns to the main theme.

Artwork – Jamaican Jazz Orchestra ‘Brain Freeze’

Celebrated for their seamless fusion of Jamaican roots and jazz, the Jamaican Jazz Orchestra emerges from the same lineage as the ska pioneers, The Skatalites, propelled by the individual brilliance of its jazz virtuosos. Their music serves as a canvas for the musicians to display their prowess. Returning with a new single from the fresh EP, the Belgian Jamaican Jazz Orchestra maintains their authentic essence while infusing a vintage, earthy ambiance into their sound.

Guided by the innovative compositions of guitarist Wouter Rosseel (known for his work with Pura Vida, Lee Scratch Perry, and The Congos), the Orchestra’s latest single, “Brain Freeze,” draws inspiration from the rhythmic bassline of a track from the soundtrack of the film ‘Les Triplettes De Belleville’. Incorporating a delightful, jazzy horn riff, an evocative open-string guitar melody, and authentic Jamaican percussion, the song encapsulates a complete groove. Notably, it showcases an Ernest Ranglin-inspired guitar solo, adding a touch of virtuosity to the ensemble.

Artwork and logo for Gaïsha – L’Amour Digital

Gaïsha, the new project of Belgian-Moroccan singer Aicha Haskal and Les Cerveaux Lents, has just released their new single ‘L’Amour Digital’ based on the traditional Muwashah ‘Sihtou Wajdan’. The Muwashah is a poetic form that originated in Al-Andalus in the 11th century, and Aicha Haskal has added a reply in French to the poem, giving the song a universal and interconnecting flair.

Les Cerveaux Lents was founded in 2002 by musicians from Absynthe Minded and Va Fan Fahre, and from 2007 to 2013, Aicha Haskal was a member of Va Fan Fahre. In 2010, she released the album ‘Al Wa’Debt’ with the band, resulting in a natural fusion between Balkan brass band and Arabic music.

With their new project, Gaïsha, they continue to bring unique and eclectic sounds to their music, blending oriental and psychedelic grooves with a Brussels twist. The collaboration seamlessly switches between Arabic chants, psychedelic rock, and even rap, resulting in a brilliant melting pot of styles.

‘L’Amour Digital’ is just the latest release from Gaïsha, and fans can expect more exciting music from this project in the future.
